The Ultimate Trail Explorer Tour is perfect for more adventurous riders who are looking to maximize their trail experience! Our groomed trail for this tour covers over 35 miles across our private mountain backcountry terrain. Weather permitting, your guide will take you to our overlook vista, featuring a 40-mile-panoramic view that showcases the Steamboat Ski Area, Rabbit Ears Pass, Buffalo Pass, and the Mount Zirkel Wilderness. Your guide will also be sure to take those looking to venture off of the trail to one of our private mountain’s abundant powder meadows, where you can break out of the pack and explore what your machine is capable of!

Tour Times:

Morning Trail Tour:

• Arrive at our shop (2740 Lincoln Avenue Steamboat Springs, CO) at 9:30am.
• The shuttle Bus leaves at 10:00am sharp from our office.
• Tour is from 10:30am-1:30pm.
• Shuttle Returns to Steamboat office at 2:00pm.

Afternoon Trail Tour:

• Arrive at our shop (2740 Lincoln Avenue Steamboat Springs, CO) at 12:30pm.
• The shuttle Bus leaves at 1:00pm sharp from our office.
• Tour is from 1:30-4:30pm.
• Shuttle Returns to Steamboat office at 5:00pm.

Note: Please do not be late or else you will miss your tour. Our busses depart promptly at the above listed times.

Please be sure to arrive at our offices with enough time to sign waiver paperwork & get everything ready with your snow gear before we depart for our private riding area. Arriving earlier if you have small children or need extra time suiting up is a good idea, as our busses depart for the trailhead promptly at their scheduled times. Clients should bring all of the snow gear that they currently have with them (Regular snow boots or Snowboard boots, goggles, gloves, facemask, jacket, snow pants, base layer clothing, hand warmers if desired, etc.) We provide head-to-toe gear outfitting (excluding gloves) and will have you covered for any gear you're missing at no additional cost!

Transportation/Shuttle Bus Service

Need transportation from where you’re staying at? No problem! We now offer transportation for all guests that need it at no additional cost. 

If needed, our shuttle bus will pick you up directly from your lodging and bring you to our offices (2740 Lincoln Avenue Steamboat Springs, CO) where you will get prepared for your tour. Please indicate whether you need to make use of our complimentary lodging shuttle during the booking process. 

All clients will ride a complimentary shuttle bus from our offices in Steamboat Springs to our Trailhead. Please note we do not allow clients to drive themselves to our Trailhead.

Lodging Shuttle Pickup times:

Morning Tours (10:00am tours)
Pickup times will be from 9:00am-9:30am

Afternoon Tours (1:00pm tours)
Pickup times will be from 12:00pm to 12:30pm

Passenger Age Policy

While the 3-hour Ultimate Trail Explorer Tour is family-friendly, we generally discourage families from bringing very young children (under 6 years of age) on this tour unless they've been snowmobiling before. We do make exceptions on a case-by-case basis and many young children have enjoyed this tour in the past. This tour covers a long distance, we must keep the tour group together with the guide, and we are unable to turn around early if your child is having a difficult time. If you feel that your young child can handle the experience, please give us a call prior to booking and we will be happy to help you make the best choice for your family and the other tour participants. Please note we do offer a 1.5-hour snowmobile tour that is more appropriate for families with very young children.

The minimum age to be a driver/operator on a snowmobile in Colorado is 15 years old.  We do allow younger operators to try driving (sitting in front of their parent or guide) in one of our private-property meadows if time & snow conditions allow.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Our cancellation policy allows you to cancel up to 72 hours prior to your reservation for a full, 100% refund. That’s right, no questions asked; cancel for any reason 72 hours prior to your reservation with no penalty.

Cancellations within 72 hours of your reservation cannot be refunded for any reason. This includes closed roads, cancelled/delayed flights, injury or sickness (including Covid), death, weather and snow conditions.

If snow conditions are not adequate for tours, Thunderstruck Adventures reserves the right to cancel a tour. In this event, we will make every effort to reschedule your tour, or provide a full refund.

Our Shuttle Busses depart for our Trailhead promptly at their scheduled times. If you are late for your tour and miss the shuttle bus, we will not issue refunds. We will make every effort possible to reschedule you in the event this happens.
